In fourth grade we work with place value, logical reasoning, large whole numbers, multiplication, division, problem solving, fractions, decimals, variables, geometry, and graphing. We also do a lot of reading and writing; we are always working on our English Language Arts skills!
Our social studies lessons are devoted to regions of the United States. Once we learn about the Northeast, the South, etc, we finish the year with Canada and Mexico, our neighbors.
Or science lessons help us to learn how temperature changes air pressure, how gravity relates to air pressure, how wind can be a source of energy, the amount of water vapor in the air affects the weather, how to classify and identify different types of clouds and clouds associated with different types of weather, and how to analyze, evaluate, and apply knowledge about weather conditions and patterns. We also learn about the solar system, matter and energy.
