SECOND GRADE
In second grade we increase our reading comprehension and fluency. We learn more about phonics, language, and composition. We do lots of addition and subtraction and learn to organize, classify, represent and interpret data. We work with numbers up to 1000! We do geometry and logical thinking. We also work with fractions, money, time, and measurement.
In social studies, we learn who Americans are and where they came from. We work with maps a lot, too.
We learn more about weather in second grade, too. We talk about temperature and wind and vapor. Night animals are fun to learn about. We talk about how they are different from animals that come out in the day time. We also work with objects in our science classes, and talk about things like size, shape, color, weight. and texture.
